Also, the results may be skewed a bit by people uploading their whole library of fic all at once. If you get a lot of prolific slash authors (or Chakotay/Kathryn Janeway authors, or what have you) uploading everything at once right before you take your numbers then that will skew the numbers a bit too.
Yeah, I've definitely noticed that. Also, in ongoing canons, changing events might make people suddenly start shipping a pairing (or stop shipping it), which is also something which would be pretty neat to look at.
